Often called the gemstone which fell to the Earth, Moldavite is thought to have resulted from a meteor impact around 14.8 million years ago which created the only variety of tektite green in color and suitable for cutting. Moldavite comes only from an area near the Moldau River in Czechoslovakia. When first holding a piece of Moldavite, many people experience an intense rush of heat or tingling through their body. This is such a common reaction that it has been coined ‘the Moldavite Flush’. Many users find that they must hold or wear their Moldavite for short periods at first, building up their ability to work with this incredible stone.
